Street Photography: 2 Things
The streets we walk or drive on tend to become invisible. We travel them quickly on autopilot, to get from point A to point B, and seldom wonder who lives and works in these spaces. When we slow down and pay attention, we learn not only about houses, boulevards, curbs, trees, and shops but this particular house, this boulevard, or this tree. Its singularity. Its uniqueness. Noticing helps us to know our environment and ourselves more deeply.

Artist Statement

I am very fortunate to travel the world with my camera. From Bangladesh to Honduras to Namibia and many places in between, traveling has allowed me to see the beauty of this world. Whether people, architecture, or nature, I am constantly in pursuit of new and interesting subjects, and events to photograph. It is important to not only capture beauty, but the emotions as well. My photography style consists of uncomplicated black and white images (with perhaps a bit of color added) and bold and bright full-color images.  Ultimately, my hope is that my photographs will inspire others to go out and discover the world in the way I have.

Biography

James Harvey Talley is a contemporary travel photographer, working with black and white and color images. Born in Japan and raised in France, Germany, and the United States, his photography is as varied as the locations he has lived. Included in his eclectic portfolio are striking landscapes, street photography and architectural captures. James Harvey, the artist, explains his overall philosophy: “I try to capture the story and emotions that my eyes see with my camera and attempt to reproduce those visual images for the world. I welcome you to join me on this visual journey.”

James Harvey’s award-winning photographs have been exhibited at the Suffolk Art Gallery, The New York Center for Photographic Art, and the Art Center Zama Japan. Additionally, his photos have been selected and published in regional calendars and published in the Group of Nations Global Briefing Magazine.
