Dualities

A Member's Group Show

Exhibition: October 3 - November 3, 2019
Opening Reception: Thursday, October 3, 6-8pm
Artist's talk: Sunday, October 20 at 2 pm

Open to the Public - Free to Attend

In this exhibition eight members of ViewPoint Gallery have paired with a non-member artist to explore one of the various meanings, definitions, and sub-definitions of a specific word chosen from a collection of nineteen words.

The words were collected from the Webster’s Universal College Dictionary. In this exhibition eight words with over 600 possible interpretations are explored. The variants can be subtle; use of a slightly different interpretation could cause confusion or discord.

Participants approached these possible differences with a sense of play and working together.

Participants in the October exhibition are:

Anne Bastedo, Jeremy Brake, Danny Cassidy,  Carol Charlebois, Angie Creaser, Michael Clutson, Raelene Giffin, Doug van Hemessen, Heather MacLeod, Hannah Minzloff, Jan Napier, Allan Neilsen, David Scriven, Mark Simkins, Roxanne Smith, Curtis Steele

Tied

Nadide Goksun

I am a ceramic artist and photographer.

I studied computer programming at Bogazici University in Istanbul and Korean ceramics at Sungshin Women’s University in Seoul. My interest in photography turned into a passion as I started to study at the International Center of Photography in NYC.

I was born in Ankara, Turkey in 1967 and have lived in Istanbul, TelAviv and Seoul.I currently live in Scarsdale, New York. www.nadidegoksun.com

"Tied" is one of the pictures from my "Chania-Crete" series.  I spent two months in Chania in the autumn of 2018 and explored the streets with my camera.

This chair was tied in front of the local restaurant called "Thalassino Ageri" which is located in an old leather tanning warehouse district on the Aegean sea.

It was the last day of the season and all the chairs were picked up for the warehouse, except that one. It was interesting to capture the still life in the landscape.

I search out the color, texture, beauty and emotion. My goal is to create images with a story to tell.
