Content Considerations

All Gallery members or guests are encouraged to consider the following questions when proposing an exhibition or selecting content to be shown in the Gallery:

  • Have you addressed any personal connection to the community/culture/institution or subject that you plan to portray in your images? Are you a member of this community? Do you have support from this community to exhibit?

  • Have you sought community involvement in a meaningful way? Will this involvement continue throughout the exhibit? If so, in what way?

  • Will this exhibition further the current artistic discourses regarding this community/culture/institution or is it contributing to dated models of appreciation?

  • Have you addressed appropriate protocols and permissions from the community?

  • If appropriate, are these communities being properly compensated for their work?

  • Are you anticipating any community challenges for this exhibition because of content?

  • Have you used generative AI in the creation of any of your images?  Is so, please describe extent and purpose of usage.

We welcome conversations around these issues.
