This is an opportunity to exhibit your work for one month at ViewPoint Gallery, an established photography gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Founded as an artists co-operative 25-years-ago, ViewPoint is the only art gallery in Atlantic Canada dedicated solely to photography.

 

The International Photography Competition is open to photographers worldwide. There are no restrictions on subject matter. The images will be reviewed by an independent jury of established photographers who will select 12 images for exhibition at ViewPoint Gallery. 
 
Entries must be submitted electronically with an entry fee of $25 US. A maximum of three images may be submitted with each entry. Multiple entries are permitted. The entry deadline is April 15, 2026.

Eligibility
Eligible applicants may be located anywhere around the world. Current ViewPoint members and their immediate families are ineligible.  Only images submitted by the artists who created them and hold sole copyright will be considered.

Awards
Twelve winning images will be professionally printed, matted, and framed at no cost to the photographer. Each print will be displayed at the gallery for one month between June 2026 and May 2027.

The 12 winners will also have the opportunity to become Virtual Associates of the Gallery, with a free profile page on our website for one year (June 2026-May 2027). See for example https://www.viewpointgallery.ca/virtual-associate-david-kempton

In addition, the 12 winning photographs will be promoted on ViewPoint's website, newsletter, and social media channels.

Sales

When they are exhibited, and for up to one year afterward, the images will be available for sale at ViewPoint Gallery at a price set by the artist. All prints are offered for in-person sale only, unmatted and unframed.

 

If the image is sold in the Gallery, the artist will receive the full sale price minus a 15% processing fee.

Any unsold prints will be disposed of in a confidential and safe manner within one year of exhibiting. Unsold prints will not be returned.

 

 

Copyright and permissions

Winning entrants agree to give ViewPoint Gallery permission to print and exhibit the work and to use the submitted images in publicity and media promotion.

 

Please note: The photographers retain copyright of all submitted images, including winning entries.

 

How to enter

Please follow these instructions carefully

 

Please complete the online submission form and send $25 US via PayPal. A maximum of three images may be submitted with each application. Multiple entries are permitted.

PayPal and Gmail accounts are both necessary to enter.

 

Please note: The submission form asks for your PayPal email address so we can match submissions to payments. There is a separate link to PayPal at the bottom of the submission. You must first make the payment and then submit the form. Forms without a corresponding submission payment will not be processed.

 

Please be patient with the submission form. Depending on your connection speed, uploads could take several minutes. Pressing the SUBMIT button more than once may cause your submission to fail.

1. Name your images using the following format: “Photographer’s Name – Title of Image.”
    

2. To avoid difficulties with uploading your images, please ensure that your images meet the following criteria:
   ​
   a) Submitted images must be jpegs ONLY.
   b) Images must be 1200 pixels on the long side to allow for proper viewing by judges.
   c) 8 bits/channel
   d) sRGB color space
   e) Your jpeg file size for these dimensions should not exceed 1MB.
    

3. Complete the online entry form below, providing the following information:

   • your name, city, and country

   • titles of your images (if untitled, please use “Untitled #1, Untitled #2, or Untitled #3)

   • e-mail address associated with your PayPal account
      

4. Upload your jpeg images (making sure to follow the criteria set out in #2 above). 
    

5. BEFORE clicking “SUBMIT”, be sure to pay your $25 US entry fee using the PayPal link at the bottom of the submission form.  REMEMBER TO PAY YOUR SUBMISSION FEE! Without a submission fee your entry is incomplete and will not be juried. 
    

6. AFTER paying the submission fee PLEASE RETURN TO THE SUBMISSION FORM PAGE (if not returned automatically by PayPal) AND CLICK "SUBMIT".
    

7. Do not refresh your browser after clicking submit. And please do NOT press the submit button more than once.

9. All entries must be received by midnight on April 15, 2026. Entry fees are non-refundable.

 

 

If one of your images is selected as a winning entry:

​

• You will be notified by e-mail by May 8, 2026.
   

• You will be required to provide a full resolution file for printing, to be submitted via email to ViewPoint Gallery. Detailed instructions will be provided when the winning images are selected. 
   

• Your full-resolution images must adhere to one of the following image size standards:

  • 12 x 18 inches (30.5 x 45.7 cm) at 300 ppi (landscape or portrait orientation)

  • 15 x 15 inches (38 x 38 cm) at 300 ppi

  • Any panorama images will be printed to the 18 inch width. This may result in an image height of less than 12 inches.
     

• You will be required to provide a biography (150 word maximum), an artist statement (150 word maximum), your website URL (if applicable), and pricing and contact information.
