Surfacing is an exhibition by Eric Boutilier-Brown about the meeting of water and skin. Where most of my images of the Nude feature the body in landscape, the photos in this exhibition focus on light and shadow, surface tension, and drops of water.

Created over three distinct periods, the images in Surfacing are quite different from my other work with the Nude. Bereft of setting, they focus on only two elements - the body and water. The compositions further reinforce this with a visual simplicity seldom seen in my images of the Nude in nature. These minimalist qualities create a balance between the macro and the micro, where both the entire composition and the tiny details hold equal importance.
