BIL DERBY
Photography is one of the ways Bil explores the relationship between landscape, geography, the built environment, and they combine to create a sense of place.
Largely self-taught, Bil has benefited from the mentorship of a handful of talented photographers, photographic educators, and visual artists and craftspeople in other mediums while drawing deeply from the visual aspects of his building design practice.
Bil’s photography has been seen in online and print media including L'Oeil de la Photographie and The Offbeat Anthology. His photography has been exhibited at The Buzz, the Nanaimo Museum, and the Fraser Gallery. His works can also be found in several private collections.
Professionally, Bil is an Architectural Technologist + building designer who has worked in architecture, engineering, and project + construction management for more than three decades.
Originally from Vancouver Island, BC, Bil and his wife now call Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia home.
