My passion for photography was ignited by travels in Spain and Portugal upon retirement. It opened my eyes to the world around me, offering me a different perspective and an immediate way in which to document and illustrate my instinctive response to it.

My photography is informed by a lifelong interest in textiles. This is particularly evident in the more abstract images I create.  My techniques are diverse.  I use multiple exposures, mostly in camera, and long exposures to create many-layered images.  Conversely, I also reduce the elements of an image down to shapes, texture, colour and light in their simplest forms.  I hope to encourage the viewer to share my fascination for the minutiae, the mundane and overlooked.  I like to observe what is going on behind the scenes in everyday life, the grungier aspects of our environment, as well as those unguarded moments in people’s lives.

Photography to me involves continuous learning and, above all, exploring and playing with different techniques and subjects, finding inspiration in what is around me and other photographers whilst honing my own aesthetic.

As an active participant in Emma Davies’ AYWMC, I am now Co-Administrator of the Minimalist Group.  My work has been shown in local exhibitions and I was lucky enough to take part in the Plus 1 Exhibition at Viewpoint Gallery in 2024.  In April this year, I will be exhibiting in Photo-Frome, an international exhibition taking place locally in Somerset, England.
