So Much To See
Artist’s search for new photographic images of Peggys Cove

(Halifax, Nova Scotia) – Roxanne Smith’s new exhibit of primarily Black & White photography, Solitude Of The Stone, will show at ViewPoint Gallery from Thursday June 7th to Sunday July 1st, 2007. It features landscape images from Peggys Cove, Nova Scotia.

Solitude Of The Stone is part of an ongoing investigation of Peggys Cove that began in the mid 1980’s. These images take us beyond the images we usually see into an in-depth investigation of Peggys Cove and its environs. “I return in every season, and in all types of weather, because I love the location and the challenge of finding fresh views of a familiar landscape.”

“By examining and re-examining this familiar place, I search for the views and details that others have overlooked.”, states Smith. “I strive not to duplicate the traditional views with which we are all familiar. Some of my images may make Peggys Cove seem unfamiliar, while some others are a twist on the standard views.”
Solitude Of The Stone opens at ViewPoint Gallery (2050 Gottingen Street, Halifax N.S.) on Thursday June 7th, at 6:00 pm. The exhibition continues until Sunday July 1st. The gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday, 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

The artist will be giving a talk at the gallery about her work on Sunday June 17 at 2:00.
